Article Rules In Bangla: আর নয় আর্টিকেল নিয়ে বিড়ম্বনা

ARTICLE

A, an এবং The-কে Article বলে। articles, adjective- এর ন্যায় noun -কে

describe (বর্ণনা) করলেও এরা adjective নয়। কারণ adjective-এর positive,
comparative এবং superlative degree আছে কিন্তু article-এর তা নেই। আবার
adjective-এর predicative use রয়েছে যা article- এর নেই।

Article- কে দু’ভাগে ভাগ করা যায়। যেমন-

• Definite Article
• Indefinite Article

1. Definite Article : The -কে Definite Article বলে। কোন noun
কে নির্দিষ্ট করাই definite Article-এর কাজ।

2.কোন শব্দের প্রথম অক্ষর vowel হলে ও তার উচ্চারণ ‘ইউ’ -এর মতো হয়

তাহলে এর পূর্বে an না বসে a বসে। যেমন-

1. This is a useful shirt. Farhad has killed a ewe.

2. Mr.. Brown is a European. The Students formed a union.

3. কোন শন্দের প্রথম অক্ষর 'O' থাকে এবং এর উচ্চারণ যদি ‘ওয়া’ wa-এর মতো হয় তবে পূর্বে an না বসে a বসে। যেমন-

1. The students staged a one-act play.
2. The man helped a one-eyed man. please give me a one-taka note.

4. কোন সংক্ষিপ্ত শব্দের প্রথম অক্ষর consonant হলেও যদি এর উচ্চারণের সময় প্রথম vowel আসে তাহলে an বসে। যেমন-

1.Mr. Razzak is an MA.Mr. Shawkat is an L.M.F

5.কোন word এর প্রথম অক্ষর অনুচ্চারিত 'h' হলে তার পূর্বে a না বসে। an বসে। যেমন-
1. The old man has an heir Mr Habib is an honourable man.
2. Rabiul was an honest man.

7. জাতি বুঝাতে Common Noun-এর পূর্বে a বা an বসে। যেমন-
1.A dog, A cow, An ant, An inkpot, An old man.

8. কিন্তু মানব জাতি বুঝাতে mfn এরপূর্বে কোন article বসে না । যেমন-
1.Man is mortal. Woman is man's partner in life.

13. Emphasis বা জোর বুঝানোর জন্য অনেক সময় a বা an বসে যেমন-
1. Not a girl was present. Not a gun was fired.
2. Not a droop of water was in the pot.

USE OF 'THE'

the একটি definite article. কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে বুঝাতে 'the' article নির্দিষ্ট করে বসে নিম্নে এর ব্যবহার দেওয়া হলো-

14. কোন নির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু বুঝালে তার পূর্বে the বসে। যেমন-

• This is The rovel which I want.
• The book is on the table.
• The girl is running about.
• Let us start the play.

15 ব্যাক্তি বা বস্তুর সবগুলো এক জাতীয় বুঝালে তার পূর্বে the বসে। অর্থাৎ common noun-এর পূর্বে the বসে। যেমন-

• The dog is a faithful animal.
• The bird has two wings.
• the cow is a domestic animal.
• The lichi is a juicy fruit.

16 কিন্তু একই জাতীয় সকলকে বুঝাতে a বা the ছাড়াও plural number ব্যবহার করা চলে। যেমন-

• A cow is a domestic animal.
• The cow is a domestic animal.
• Cows are domestic animal.

17. The adjective- এর পূর্বে বসে একই জাতীয় সকলকে বুঝাতে পারে এবং উক্ত adjecive-টি plural common noun
রূপে ব্যবহৃত হয়। এরূপ the - কে generalizing 'the' বলে। Generalizing শব্দের অর্থ সাধারণ শ্রেণিভুক্ত করা। যেমন-

• The rich are not always happy.
• The lame should be helped.

18. Possessive অর্থে article 'the' বসতে পারে। একে possessive the বসে। যেমন-

• Badal struck him on the head.
• Pull out him by the ear.

19. কোন পরিচিত ব্স্তু বুঝালে তার পূর্বে 'the' বসে। যেমন-

• He met me in the park.
• They were cutting paddy in the field.

21. নদী, সাগর, সমুদ্র প্রভূতির পূর্বে the বসে। যেমন-

• Dhaka stands on the Buriganga.
• The ship stared over the Atlantic.
• The Pacific is the largest ocean.

22. Unique বা অদ্বিতীয় বস্তুর পূর্বে article 'the' বসে। যেমন-

• The earth moves round the sun.
• The moon looks beautiful.
• The sky is cloudy.
• The sun rises in the east.

25. প্রসিদ্ধ ধর্মগ্রন্থ ও প্রসিদ্ধ পত্রিকার নামের পূর্বে 'the' বসে। যেমন-

• The Quran is a holy book.
• The Observer is a daily Newspaper.

26. জাতির নামের পূর্বে 'the' বসে । যেমন-

• The English are a brave.
• The Muslims are Allah fearing.

28. যদি common noun abstruct noun রূপে ব্যবহৃত হয় তবে তার পূর্বে 'the' বসে। যেমন-

• Check the beast in you.
• The mother in her rose.

30. ঋতু নামের পূর্বে 'the'বসতে পারে আবার নাও পারে। যেমন-

• The spring is the best season of all.
• It is rainy season now.

32. (i) দুটি noun যদি and দ্বারা যুক্ত হয় এবং একজন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে বোঝায় তখন একটি noun এর পূর্বে the বসে। যেমন-

• Mr. Azizul Haq is The Headmaster and Secretary of Gumta Ishakia High School.(একই ব্যক্তি)

33. দু্ই বা দুইয়ের অধিক adjective কোন noun- কে qualify করলে প্রত্যেকটি adjective-এর পূর্বে the বসবে, এবং noun টি singular হবে।
অথবা কেবল প্রথমটির পূর্বে the বসবে, কিন্ত noun-টি plural হবে। যেমন-

• Habib has finished the 3rd and the 4th part of the work.
• He has done the fifth and the sixth part of the work.

The-এর আরো কিছু ব্যবাহার

ব্যবহারভেদে the -এর বিভিন্ন রকম নামকরণ করা হয়েছে। নিম্নে তা বর্ণনা করা হল:

35. The 'familiar the': যখন The কোন বিশেষ পরিচিত noun-এর পূর্বে বসে তখন তাকে অধিক পরিচিত করার জন্য নতুন কোন
শব্দ বা শব্দ সমষ্টির দরকার হয় না তাকে familiar the বলে। যেমন-

• He went to the club.
• The sun rises in the east.
• The sun, the moon and the earth are created by Allah.

36. The 'generalising the' : The যখন কোন singular common noun বা adjective-এর পূর্বে বসে class বা kind বোঝায় তখন তাকে generalising the বলে। যেমন-

• The tiger is a beast of prey.
• The cow is a domestic animal.
• The poor are always unhappy.
• The rich ar not always happy.

37 The 'defining the' : উচ্চারিত বা অনুচ্চারিত কোন qualifying word, phrase বা Clause দ্বারা সীমাবদ্ধ noun-এর পূর্বে যে the ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে defining'the' বলে। যেমন-

• You have lost the book that I gave you. Who gave you the red pencil?

38. The "possessive the" : Possessive Adjective-এর পরিবর্তে যে the বসে তাকে possessive the বলে। যেমন-

• The ruffian struck me on the (=my) head.

39. The 'instrumental the' : যখন Adjective বা Adverb- এর পূর্বে the বসিয়ে দুটি জিনিসের মধ্যকার ওঠানামা বুঝানো হয়ে থাকে তখন তাকে instrumental the বলে। যেমন-

• The more, the merrier.
• The Sooner, The better.

মূলত এরা Article নয়। প্রথম the, relative adverb এবং দ্বিতীয় the, Demonstrative adverb. 

OMISSION OF ARTICLES

40. Proper noun, material noun এবং abstract noun-এর আগে সাধারণত কোন article বসে না। যেমন-

• Columbus discovered.
• America. Water is liquid.
• Marconi invented Radio.
• Honesty is the best policy.

41. Common noun যখন plural number-এর ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং নির্দিষ্টভাবে কোন কিুছকে না বোঝায তখন এর পূর্বে article বসে না। যেমন-

• Birds are flying in the sky at large. Cows give us milk.

42. কোন নামের পূর্বে ব্যবহৃত উপাধি বা পদমর্যাদা বিষয়ক শব্দের আগে the বসে না। যেমন-

• Poet Shakespeare is kinown to all.

43. কিন্ত নামের উল্লেখ না থাকলে 'the' বসে। যেমন-

• The poet has written this poem.
• The president of the USA is known to all.

44. আমার আম্মা, আমার ভাই, আমার আব্বা ইত্যাদি অর্থে কোন article বসে না। যেমন-

• I have written to my mother for money.
• My brother is walking the child.

45. Common Noun-এর পূর্বে Pronominal অথবা numeral adjective থাকলে article বসে না। যেমন-

• Each boy should bring his pen.

46. Common noun যদি vocative case হিসেবে বসে তবে আগে article বসে না। যেমন-

• Girl, do not tell a lie.
• Mother, give me a paisa.

47.সাধারণত কোন রোগের নামের পূর্বে the বসে না। যেমন-

• Small pox is a dangerous disease.
• Cholera has broken out in the village.

48.Allah এবং এর qualifying word-এর পূর্বে artical বসে না। যেমন-

• Allah is merciful. Allah will help us.
